Meet Daniel Negreanu
Born: July 26, 1974, Toronto, Ontario
Known for: winning six World Series of Poker bracelets, two World Poker Tour titles
“The majority of players are looking for reasons to fold. I am looking for reasons to play.”
Before becoming a professional player, Negreanu has formed his passion and has developed his playing technique practicing gambling, sports betting, and illegal poker tournaments since he was in his teenage years.
At age of 21, he decided it was time to experience the Vegas life. However, it turned out to be harder for him to make it there, so the poker champion has returned to Toronto where he made himself a name.
Eventually in 1998 he has won his first World Series of Poker competition. He was only 23 when he has won his first bracelet, and that’s when he broke a record: he became the youngest poker player to win a WSOP bracelet. Once with this award he got himself a new nickname: Kid Poker.
In 2004 the poker player has made it to 11 final tables, that brought him, among other prizes, two WPT victories and another bracelet.
Kid Poker has even helped Doyle with his second book, and later on he released his own, called Hold’em Wisdom for all players. The following year, in 2008, he released yet another one – Power Hold’em Strategy.
2013 was another successful year for Daniel that brought him several awards:
- WSOP Player of the Year
- Bluff Player of the Year
- Card Player Magazine’s Player of the Year award
