“Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker”
Known as well as “Texas Dolly”, or “The Godfather of Poker”, this man has become from a simple poker player a real poker legend and is now considered by many the greatest poker players of all times.
However, only a few know that poker wasn’t his first career choice. Doyle’s original professional goal was becoming a basketball superstar and he started off as a former player at Minneapolis Lakers.
An injury has put an end to his career, but apparently something positive has came out of this accident as well. His leg injury made him re-orientate towards something else which resulted into his fame of today.
At first he played illegal poker and he become known in the Southern America. It was in 1970 when he decided to settle in Las Vegas and become a player at the World Series of Poker.
In 1976 and 1977 Brunson has won the first place consecutively at the World Championship. Almost three decades later, in 2004, he proved once again his natural talent when he has made one of his greatest achievements: he won the first place in a poker tournament once again, but this time at the Legends of Poker Championship.
Texas Dolly is also known for writing two books, Super/System and Super/System 2.
