World Series of Poker
This live tournament held its first edition back in 1970, by Benny Binion’s initiative. Binion started this huge business by simply inviting the 7 best poker players at Horseshoe Casino for a simple tournament.
In 1972 WSOP has become a $10,000 buy-in no-limit Texas Hold ’em contest. 4 years later has been added another award – not only the winners will be awarded in cash, but the lucky poker player will receive the infamous golden bracelet, and a special spot on Binion’s Gallery of Champions.
The popularity of this poker Holdem tournament has started growing so fast that in less than 10 years has gotten to a number of over 50 attendants. This lead to the apparition of satellite tournaments. A single tournament has become a series of more.
By now, the number of WSOP events has increased to 65, where players get the chance to play most poker variants, especially Holdem and various types of poker derived from Holdem.
On May 30th will be held the WSOP 2017, which would be the 48th edition of the annual tournament. This edition will be held in Las Vegas, at Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino. This year’s tournament will last 48 days and includes 500 poker tables.
Players are able to play Six Handed events, meaning tournaments where a player competes against other 5. Shootout events are also very popular. For this type of WSOP tournament, the player has to take out all his competitors at the table in order to move on to the next round.
